Myers Memorial Pool Renovation
On April 28th, 2016, the Community Services Department issued a detailed press release with an update on closing the Myers Memorial Pool. The City chartered the ad hoc Winooski Pool Feasibility and Design Project Committee, whose goal was to assist in the selection of a vendor to complete a thorough Pool Replacement Feasibility and Scoping Study.
After receiving the final report from the Pool Feasibility and Conceptual Design study, Winooski City Council voted on November 6th, 2017 to allocate funds to support moving the project to a preliminary engineering phase. The engineering firm Weston and Sampson were selected to conduct this work.
On June 18th, 2018, Winooski City Council approved the warning and public hearing notice for the Myers Memorial Pool Renovation Project bond vote to be held in conjunction with the August 14th, 2018 primary election.
On Tuesday, August 14, 2018, the voters of Winooski voted on and approved the Myers Memorial Pool Renovation Project bond.
4.30.20 - COVID-19 Impact on the Myers Memorial Pool Construction Project
The following is an update on the COVID-19 impact on the Myers Memorial Pool reconstruction project. As discussed during the 4/20 City Council meeting, the construction schedule is delayed due to the Governor’s Stay Safe, Stay at Home Executive Order.
The current target for construction completion is July 24, 2020. Originally, the estimated completion date was June 5, 2020. This delayed completion date assumes that the current reduced work crew order will only remain in effect until May 15th. We are currently not forecasting additional construction costs due to this delay and City staff are coordinating with the contractor to ensure that work continues safely and diligently to deliver this important community project.
The City has not made a determination on whether the pool will be opened for the upcoming season. We’re continuing to review on-going state restrictions, public safety guidelines, operational cost-benefit impacts, and pool equipment start-up logistics. Unfortunately, due to the extended construction schedule, the adjacent community garden at Landry Park will not be open this season. The City is working with impacted gardeners to provide individual solutions, such as site relocations and plot refunds.

1.14.20 - The Safe, Healthy, Connected People Commission received a presentation outlining a fee structure and operational proposal.
6.11.19 - The City of Winooski broke ground and began the first construction season.
In the spring of 2019, the City of Winooski was awarded $148,500 in grant funds from the Land and Water Conservation Fund to support the project.
12.17.18 - The Department of Public Works presented a design development project update for Council review.
