Administrative Council Liaison Update 4/3/19

Written by Councilor Amy Lafayette

Hello, Neighbors! At our last City Council meeting, I was assigned to be the Administrative Liaison for the City Council. In this role, I will meet with our City Manager Jessie Baker on regular basis to receive updates about what is happening at the City on an operational level, and pass those updates on to you all.

Much of my conversation with the City Manager this month involved the sharing of historical knowledge so that as the new Administrative Liaison I can be better equipped to do my job. The City Manager shared a copy of her contract, explained the important role the Treasurer plays in terms of checks and balances, shared a change to employee performance reviews that will provide more on-going feedback, and provided context on staffing of the Finance department, including moving the City’s Accountant from part-time to full-time (as was passed in the FY 20 budget).

I was also briefed on the City’s IT transition. They migrated from a physical, old server to a server that is cloud-based and has much more storage and functionality. During this transition, their email addresses and their website moved from .org to .gov. For example, became, and became

Although both sets of extensions will work for the foreseeable future, we are all encouraged to start using the new .gov ones. If you haven’t had a chance to check out the new website yet, I would highly encourage you to do so, as I personally find it much more user-friendly and straightforward.
