Winooski Youth Council Application

  1. What is a Youth Council?
The Youth Council Program is designed to create a structure for engaging youth and young adults, grades 6-12, in leadership development and decision making in a meaningful way, where they can see and experience the impact of their efforts on their peers and their broader community.
  2. Responsibilities of a Council Member
The council will meet twice a month to plan and run new events and programs for their community with Winooski Recreation and the Winooski Memorial Library. In addition to their bi-weekly meetings, council members can expect to work 10+ hours each month. This accounts for time taken to run and staff their programs. This position requires a minimum of a 6-month commitment with the opportunity to serve up to 1 year. Each Youth Council member will receive a stipend of $50 per month through June 2021. All meetings will be held virtually until further notice.
  3. Application Details
Applicants must be in grades 6-12. You can expect to hear back within a week of submitting your application. You will be asked to do a short virtual interview to learn more about the Council and see if it is a good fit. All decisions will be made by January 1, 2020. You will hear from us by email!
